Bespoke Practical Effects Buttons for Sets and Props

Developing the automated harp project combined audio analysis, software development, and motion control into a single interactive installation. By analysing a standard audio recording, the team identified 17 key notes and translated them into precise motor movements using custom software. Extensive timing calibration ensured the strings appeared perfectly synchronised with the music, creating a convincing real-time mechanical performance.

We’re showcasing a fun project where we completely redesigned a dance floor’s lighting control system. By replacing a complex network of cables and power supplies with a bespoke solution, we created a setup that’s simpler, cleaner, and easier to control — and even added custom dancing poles to complete the experience.

This project demonstrates a custom-designed, pixel-controlled LED pyramid, engineered in-house from PCB through to assembly. Each face of the structure is populated to ensure uniform illumination across the 3D form, while full pixel control enables dynamic animations and effects, transforming the pyramid into a fully programmable lighting feature.

We set out to recreate the natural, unpredictable flicker of real flame using programmable LED technology. By combining PX1-driven control with careful diffusion techniques, this project demonstrates how dynamic, lifelike fire effects can be achieved with precision, consistency, and full creative flexibility.

In the example shown here, we used our PX1-R technology, and embedded the controller directly into a bespoke PCB, designed around the prop requirements, not the other way around.

Trilite: Modular Portable Radio-Controlled Uplighting

The LV966 is a 96-channel LED control system designed for film, TV, and set applications, enabling precise, repeatable control of complex LED installations such as sci-fi consoles and prop panels. With integrated resistors, IDC ribbon connectivity, and DMX/radio control, it dramatically reduces wiring complexity while delivering reliable, high-density lighting control for production environments.

Creating realistic shadows in computer-generated imagery(CGI) can be a complex and expensive task during post-production. We met this challenge head on in a recent project, developing a 120mm LED ball, designed to generate real-time light and shadow effects during filming. The innovative solution delivers authentic lighting effects, which assist the CGI team in post-production by enhancing the integration of CGI elements with live-action footage, saving both time and costs.
