Finding the Right Controller Just Got Easier

Choosing the right lighting controller should be straightforward.
But when you have a range of products designed for different applications, sizes, current requirements and control methods, it isn't always immediately obvious which one is the best fit.
That's why we've added a new Product Selector to the EMP Designs website.
Tell Us What You Need
Rather than working through individual product pages and comparing specifications, the Product Selector helps narrow down the options based on what you actually need your controller to do.
By answering a few simple questions about your application, the selector can guide you towards the EMP products most suited to your requirements.
That might include things such as:
How many channels you need
The type of LEDs or load you want to control
Your current and power requirements
Whether you need wired DMX, wireless DMX or both
How important physical size is to the application
Whether features such as RDM are required
The aim isn't to replace technical advice. It's simply to make that first step much quicker.
Start With the Application, Not the Product
We design products for quite different environments.
A controller disappearing inside a small prop has very different requirements from one driving a high-power lighting installation.
A costume might prioritise size and weight.
A practical fixture might need considerably more current.
A large prop could require multiple channels, while another application may only need one or two.
Rather than expecting you to know which EMP product family covers each of those situations, the Product Selector starts with the application and works back towards the product.
Compare the Options
Sometimes there will be one obvious answer.
Other times, several products may be suitable.
In those situations, the selector gives you a useful starting point for comparing the options and deciding which features matter most for your particular project.
For example, the smallest controller isn't necessarily the right controller if you need significantly more output current. Equally, there is little reason to specify a larger, higher-power unit if the electronics need to disappear inside a very small prop.
It's about finding the right balance.
And If Nothing Quite Fits?
This is EMP Designs, so there's another possibility.
The product you need might not exist yet.
Our standard products have developed from many years of solving problems for film, television, theatre, events and specialist installations.
If you use the selector and still can't find something that quite matches what you're trying to achieve, talk to us.
We can often adapt an existing solution, recommend a different approach or design something specifically for the application.
After all:
When the technology you need doesn't exist, we build it.
