Full time – although we will consider part time for the right candidate.
About us
EMP Designs is an innovative electronic design company that for 20 years has been finding solutions to complex problems in the film industry – including lighting, special effects and props, as well as television, theatre, rail and scientific industries. Our business continues to grow and therefore we are looking to expand the team.
The role
This will be a new role within the business as we are currently setting up a stock and inventory control system and need additional capacity in order to achieve this. Initially, much of the work will involve data entry in order to create the data needed for the stock control system to function. In time, the role will evolve to more widely support the purchasing and stock management team.
You will work closely with both our Operations Director and Technical Director in order to source components in readiness for production. This will require purchasing for small and medium production runs as well as purchasing components for one-off prototypes.
We are a small company so in addition to supporting with the purchasing of components, you will be required to support with goods in and out as well as checking items in and out of our stock control system. This will include preparing components kits to facilitate the manufacture of products in our manufacturing area.
We are a friendly team who enjoy working together and we aim to ensure everyone who works at EMP Designs enjoys coming to work each day. We enjoy each other’s company outside of work and gather regularly to socialize. We provide a well-stocked kitchen and so provide everyone with food to make their own lunch each day.
Personal attributes
Being able to work as a team is fundamental to us delivering high quality products and therefore you need to have a positive outlook and the capacity to work and communicate effectively within a team.
Our clients frequently require us to work to tight time scales and therefore you need to be versatile and adaptable in order to effectively support the manufacturing and design teams. Our business is constantly growing and changing and therefore a desire to explore, learn and support wider elements of the business will be an essential characteristic.
The growth of our business also requires us to constantly review and adapt our systems. Providing solutions and ideas on how systems can be improved and adapting to the changes being implemented must be embedded within your personality. Delivering innovative and quality products is key to our business so, you need a keen eye for quality and consistency, you should operate in a methodical manner.
If you would like a better understanding of what we do and an opportunity to meet us all prior to making an application, we would love to show you around. We are really proud of what we do but we are unable to advertise the vast majority of products that we develop, due to NDAs, so visiting us to see what we do is highly recommended. Please do not hesitate in contacting us to arrange a tour.
