Portable Wireless LED Spheres
We are often approached with specialist requests for LED sphere lighting solutions for film and television productions. These requirements can vary greatly depending on the creative brief.
Some projects call for highly complex, multi-channel pixel-mapped fixtures capable of dynamic effects and detailed programming. Others require a simpler solution — a clean, single-channel source that delivers a specific colour accurately and reliably.
For this particular project, the brief was to develop a portable, fully wireless spherical light source that could be positioned freely around a film set and controlled remotely in real time.
Designed for Flexibility on Set
Each sphere was built with an integrated battery system, removing the need for external power cables and allowing units to be placed quickly wherever needed. This gave the production team complete freedom to position practical light sources exactly where they were required, without compromise.
Real-Time Wireless Control
Using wireless control, multiple spheres could be adjusted instantly from a central controller. Brightness, timing and effects could all be managed live, making them ideal for reactive lighting cues or fast-moving production environments.
Ideal for Mapped Effects
Because the units operate as individually controllable single-channel sources, they can also be grouped and mapped across a set to create coordinated movement, chases, pulses or sweeping light effects.
As shown in the video, this creates a striking visual result while keeping the setup simple, portable and production-friendly.
