Adapting the LV5 Femto: Six Channels, Hardwired DMX and Mechanical Switches
Sometimes, an existing product is close to what a client needs, but a few design changes are required to make it right for their project.
A recent request for our LV5 Femto is a good example. The client needed a six-channel version of the controller, with hardwired DMX connectivity and mechanical switches in place of the magnetic sensors we often use to keep our controllers compact.
Three changes to meet the brief
For this project, we adapted the LV5 Femto design to include:
Six channels, adding an extra channel to the existing design.
Hardwired DMX, providing the connectivity the client required.
Mechanical switches, replacing the magnetic sensors to suit the environment in which the controller would be used.
Each change responded to a specific part of the client’s brief, from channel count and connectivity to how the controller would be operated.
Tailoring the LV5 Femto to a Client’s Brief
We started with the existing LV5 Femto design from our design library, then made the modifications needed for the project.
This is an important part of how we work. Our existing products provide a starting point, and we can develop them further when a client needs a different configuration.
In this case, that meant bringing an additional channel, hardwired DMX and mechanical switches together in a version of the LV5 Femto tailored to the client’s requirements.
If your project needs a variation on one of our controllers, get in touch to discuss what you have in mind.
